Gunna Becomes Co-Owner of Flerish Clean Hydration Brand

Date:

Grammy-nominated rapper Gunna is adding “beverage entrepreneur” to his résumé, becoming a co-owner of Flerish, a 2024-launched clean-hydration drink that uses watermelon as its base, the company announced last week.

Flerish founder Avery Johnson Jr. said the Atlanta native’s “cultural reach” and commitment to wellness made him an ideal partner. The three-flavor line — Passion Fruit, Pineapple, and Mixed Berry — is formulated with vitamins B6, B12, and E, L-theanine, zinc, and magnesium, and contains no artificial sweeteners or dyes. It is already pouring at marquee events such as Coachella, the Super Bowl and NBA All-Star Weekend.

“I don’t put my name on just anything. Flerish is different, it’s clean, it works, and it’s become a part of my everyday lifestyle. I’m happy to be coming on board and look forward to the journey ahead,” Gunna said in a press statement.

“Right now, I’m focused,” the Atlanta rapper continued. “There’s no off switch. I needed something that supports me naturally and keeps me balanced and that’s exactly what Flerish does.”

WayMaker Journal recently named Gunna one of our 2025 Top WayMakers for leveraging his rap success to uplift his hometown of South Fulton, Ga. Among his signature efforts is a guaranteed income program, which provides $1,000 monthly stipends for a year to 30 low-income families in the 30349 zip code area.

Johnson said Flerish will tap into Gunna’s community ties: “He’s not just a face for the brand. His vision will push us forward in powerful ways as we expand into new neighborhoods.”

With 32 million monthly Spotify listeners and more than 5 million Instagram followers, Gunna joins a growing list of hip-hop stars investing in better-for-you consumer products. His investment arrives as sales of functional beverages outpace traditional sports drinks among Gen Z consumers seeking clean labels and celebrity authenticity.

Flerish plans wider retail distribution and event partnerships this summer as Gunna mounts his “Bittersweet” tour. More information is available at drinkflerish.com.
