As part of MEXAM Northwest Festival 2025, the City of Seattle and the Consulate of Mexico in Seattle, in collaboration with the City of Seattle’s One Seattle Graffiti Plan Initiative, present the MEXART Mural Project.
This initiative activates the façade of Condon Hall with “Ten Voices, Ten Murals — A Celebration of Migration and Belonging.” The weeklong live-painting event spotlights ten contemporary Mexican and Mexican-American artists from the Pacific Northwest and is a signature public-art moment of MEXAM Northwest Festival 2025.
Timed to the start of National Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15–Oct. 15), the projectcenters stories of movement, memory, and identity. The project invites Seattle to witness murals that serve as mirrors and landmarks for underrepresented communities.
“It is an honor to support MEXART2025, one of our flagship projects for our annual MEXAM NW Festival, a timely project that transforms public space in Seattle into a canvas of memory, enrichment and hope,” Héctor Godoy Priske, Head Consul of Mexico in Seattle, said in a press statement.
“These works of art celebrate the voices of Mexican and Mexican-American artists while inviting all communities to reflect on the shared journeys that shape our region. In amplifying creativity, heritage, and dialogue, we reaffirm our commitment to culture as a bridge that unites and inspires. These murals rise as windows that open toward community and belonging.”

The MEXART artist roster features ten of the region’s most engaged muralists and designers working across illustration, lettering, and contemporary folk traditions: B-Line Dot (blinedot.com); Carlos “They Drift” Aguilar (theydrift.com); Cristina Martinez (juneandmars.com); Esmeralda Vázquez; Gerardo “Periko” Peña (perikotheartist.com); Jake Prendez (jakeprendez.com/); José Rodriguez III (joserodriguez3rd.com); Marisol Ortega (marisolortega.com); René Julio (renejulio.com); and Víctor Meléndez (victormelendez.com).
Live mural painting for the MEXART Mural Project 2025 will take place September 15–21, 2025, at 1098 NE Campus Pkwy, Seattle, WA 98105, in the University District, with all ten murals slated for completion on September 22, 2025. The public is invited to stop by and witness the artists at work throughout the week.
MEXART foregrounds cultural presence and joy—moving beyond narratives of struggle to celebrate resilience, heritage, and belonging through public art. As murals go up in real time, the project transforms a highly visible University District site into a living conversation about home, identity, and community memory. It’s also a gateway into MEXAM Northwest Festival 2025, a multi-event celebration of Mexican and Hispanic culture across the region.
